HELP YOUNG PEOPLE GET MORE FROM SPORT, AND BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH IT THAT LASTS.
We want young people to become better players. We also want sport to give them something they carry with them long after the result, team or pathway has changed.

SPORT CAN GIVE YOUNG PEOPLE FAR MORE THAN SPORT.
It gives them somewhere to belong, something to work at and people to share it with.
They learn to compete, improve, deal with setbacks and keep going when progress is slow. They build friendships, confidence and experiences that can stay with them for years.
For some, sport will become a career. For most, it will not.
Either way, the years spent growing up through sport should count for something.
We want more young people to leave those years healthier, better equipped for what comes next and still wanting sport to be part of their lives.

YOUTH SPORT IS CHANGING.
Young players are growing up around more coaching, competition, technology, information and opportunity.
There is a lot to welcome in that.
But more does not automatically mean better.
More training is not always better development. More competition does not guarantee progress. More information does not always create clarity.
We are not interested in making youth sport less ambitious.
Young players should be allowed to want to win, get selected and find out how far their ability can take them.
We want development to support those ambitions without losing sight of the person growing alongside the player.
Performance, health and a positive experience of sport should not have to compete with one another.

KEEPING SOMEONE IN SPORT DOES NOT MEAN KEEPING THEM ON THE SAME PATH.
A player who changes sport has not been lost.
Neither has someone who leaves an academy and plays with friends, steps down from national competition or decides that becoming professional is no longer what they want.
Ambitions change. Bodies change. Lives change.
Sport needs somewhere for young people to go when they do.
Because the bigger goal is not keeping someone in one team, pathway or programme.
It is helping them build a relationship with sport that survives those changes.

GOOD DEVELOPMENT PUTS THE YOUNG PERSON AT THE CENTRE.
Young people need a voice.
Youth sport is shaped by adults, but young people are the ones experiencing it. We should talk with them, not only about them.
Good development should be accessible.
Useful information and research should not only reach families closest to money, expertise or opportunity.
Better youth sport takes all of us.
Players, parents, coaches, practitioners, researchers, clubs and organisations see different parts of development. Progress comes from bringing more of that knowledge together.
OUR 2035 AMBITION
10 MILLION YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A BETTER EXPERIENCE OF SPORT.
Reaching people is only the beginning.
We want to know whether young players are better equipped for sport, whether parents feel clearer about supporting them, whether coaches use what they learn and whether more young people want sport to remain part of their lives.
We will measure what matters, publish what we learn and change our approach when better evidence gives us a reason to.

OUR MISSION
HELP YOUNG PEOPLE GET MORE FROM SPORT, AND BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH IT THAT LASTS.
Better development.
Better experiences.
More young people keeping sport in their lives.
